Lab 1.1: Network Components

Build

In Packet Tracer, add two PCs, one access switch, and one router.

Cable hosts to access ports and the switch uplink to the router.

Assign addresses in one /24 and configure the router interface as the default gateway.

ping <peer>

Break and explain

Shut the router interface and predict which tests fail.

Restore it, then place one host in the wrong subnet.

Use evidence to identify whether the fault is physical, Layer 2, addressing, or routing.
