Catalyst Center Quick Reference

The four functional areas and how to treat AI-assisted suggestions — tested in ENCOR objective 4.6.

Four functional areas

Design: define network-wide standards (site hierarchy, addressing, templates) once, centrally.

Provision: apply that design to actual devices, pushing consistent configuration fleet-wide (including SD-Access fabric provisioning).

Policy: define group-based access/segmentation intent at a business level, often integrating with Cisco ISE.

Assurance: continuous, correlated monitoring and health-scoring — the functional area this domain focuses on.

AI-assisted suggestions: validate, don't auto-apply

AI-assisted troubleshooting analyzes correlated telemetry and historical patterns to suggest likely root causes and remediations. Suggestion quality depends entirely on the completeness of the underlying telemetry, which isn't guaranteed in every environment or failure. Treat every suggestion as requiring independent human validation — never as an autonomous fix ready to apply without review.
